Cambridge 2000: Roseford Road: 49
Current planning regulations encourage people to sell off
their gardens in order to build new houses. The plot for
this house used to contain a garage for the house on the left.
Such a plot is worth anywhere in the region of 50000 to 100000
pounds (80000 to 160000 Euros), so the temptation is obvious.
This house is only a meter or two from the house on the right
(which itself has an extension built on top of its garage),
and so has inevitably affected the value of that house.
Pathetically there is no compensation for this, one reason
this kind of 'salami slicing' is common.
