Cambridge 2000: Pleasant Row: Mount Pleasant House
|Description: Pleasant Row: Mount Pleasant House|
|Date built: c1979|
Several companies occupy this office complex, it was built in the
days when the local government wanted such buildings to provide
many car parking spaces, and so there is a large garage underneath
and further parking to the side.
The current policy has swung completely the other way, no new
building is allowed to have enough car parking spaces.
The entrance porch was added in the late 1990s.
For some reason, the building was never a great commercial success,
and in line with what was happening elsewhere in Cambridge at the
time, in 2016 it was announced that the building would be demolished
and replaced with a student accommodation block, this one for
St Edmunds's College.
