Cambridge 2000: Girton College: Eliza Baker Court: Mistress' Flat
The new brick is not nearly as nice as the old brick, and the
design does not fit in that well with the rest of the college.
The cylindrical tower and entrance, to the left, were added in 1997 by
Bland, Brown and Cole
to provide a private entrance for the Mistress (head of the college)
and her family.
The 1997 work also included the replacement of all original single glazed windows
and saw the introduction of sun control louvres to the first floor south elevation. The
new central doorway from the ground floor Fellows' dining and sitting rooms onto Eliza
Baker Court was also created at this time. [ Information provided by BBC. ]
