Cambridge 2000: Huntingdon Road: NIAB (National Institute of Agricultural Botany)
Description: Huntingdon Road: NIAB (National Institute of Agricultural Botany)
Date built: 1921
Architect: P. Morley Horder
A charming building, with a not so charming (but fairly
typical) 1960s extension at the back. Behind the 1960s
block is a 1983 library designed by
who was working for Bidwells at the time.
NIAB is concerned with seed testing, and as a result has extensive
land behind. Once it was far removed from city life, but in time
housing has spread all the way to its boundary and in future there
housing on NIAB land
itself, and beyond.
