Cambridge 2000: Medical Research Council: Francis Crick Avenue: LMB-2, The Chromosome
LMB-2 is the replacement for the original
Laboratory for Molecular Biology,
which had work carried out inside responsible for more
Nobel prizes than any other building in the world. The
world of science is a far more globally competitive business
these days so the new building is unlikely to see quite
so much success. But the old building was for many years
unsuitable for laboratory work and the new building is a
big improvement. The view from
the back
is equally striking.
The building was supposed to be occupied in 2012, but problems with the
building's system software meant it was not ready until February 2013.
