Once upon a time government fearlessly spoke about "third class" and "fourth class" housing. Nobody would dare to do that today. It is amusing that much of the housing in the Kite area was deemed third class, and only fit for clearance. Needless to say most of this clearance never happened (exceptions being for the Grafton Centre and also east of East Road where awful blocks of flats were built in the late 1950s). Now that rich people live in the Kite area it is deemed desirable, although of course even if the people are now first class the housing is still third class. (There is a shortage of first class housing in Cambridge and equally unfortunately vast swathes of third class housing.)
