Cambridge 2000: Trinity College: Grange Road: Butler House (in background), 58B
In the 1970s
Trinity added two brick and orange-tile-roofed blocks
to its Burrell's Field cluster of buildings.
Adrian House
and Butler House were partly funded by American money.
Each of the two buildings contains one Fellow's flat (a
Fellow is a senior member of the college) at the
top of one of the three staircases. These used to have
stunning views over the garden but were still not very
popular with most Fellows because they are not part of the
main college, so relatively junior Fellows who did not mind
the walk up to college usually inhabited these flats.
The addition of more recent
buildings
to Burrell's Field have completely spoiled the view of
and for Adrian House from the garden, and to a lesser
extent the same could be said for Butler House.
