Cambridge 2000: Jesus Lane: All Saints Church
This is a fine old church and replaced an
earlier church
located nearer the centre of the city which was demolished
in 1865. This church was almost demolished itself in the
1980s after it stopped being used in the 1970s. Instead, after
some protest, the interior was renovated. However it still
stands empty and is largely unused. The interior style is
Arts and Crafts, and William Morris and his colleagues did some
of the decoration, in particular the magnificent east window
stained glass (the main window visible in the photo).
