The older parts of the bank building, on the left, date from the 18th and 19th centuries. This most recent extension is typical of its era.
This branch of Barclays, and the nearby branch on Market Hill, closed on 3 June 2011 and reopened in the old post office on 6 June.
In 2013 two restaurants opened up, one in the old building and one in the 1960s extension.
