Cambridge 2000: university: Trumpington Street: Fitzwilliam Museum
In the early 2000s, an under-utilised inner courtyard in the
museum
was covered over.
A gift shop and restaurant (as can be seen at the left in the photo)
were added as part of the work. These social and financial aspects
are almost more important than the contents for modern museums.
Meeting rooms and office space was also added.
(The Fitzwilliam did not allow photography inside the museum, apart
from a very restricted area, until 2013.)
