One of a block of six buildings, surrounding the
Portland Arms pub.
The site was previously occupied by a low-rise c1970
commercial building, known as Alexander House.
A small supermarket opened on the ground floor of
this building at the end of June 2017.
As the number of higher education students increases in the city,
so does the demand for student housing, although too much of it
is being built and some of the rooms on this site, for example,
were being let for short-term stays.
