The second, and most memorable, of three extensions done
by the architects for
the museum.
A symmetric wing to this was planned but never built.
The pond out front was added later. It was removed as
part of the development of the inner courtyard in 2002-2004
by
John Miller and Partners.
The three 17th century Chinese porcelain vases seen in the
window were knocked onto the floor by a visitor and smashed
into hundreds of pieces in January 2006. They were restored
and re-installed in a nearby glass case in November 2007.
