Cambridge 2000: Thompson's Lane: The Old Vicarage
In spite of its name, originally this was not a vicarage,
and it was only in the late 19th century that a vicar of
the nearby
St Clement's Church
lived here.
In 2010-2012 a new owner carried out a major refurbishment,
including the removal of a three storey 1980s extension at
the far side, and its replacement with a single storey
extension, just partly visible in the photo. A 20th century
bow window on the middle floor was also replaced with a standard
window. And the exterior colour was changed from an insipid grey
to a more welcoming yellow.
