Cambridge 2000: Cam
Description: Cam: houseboats |
There are many houseboats on the River Cam. Some are used
for recreation, but some are used as residences.
The Cam itself is not a particularly clean river, but the
particular houseboat lifestyle has always been attractive
to some people.
On some of the river there is a conflicting interest between the
houseboats and rowers, but in this location, just above Jesus
Lock, there are no rowers, although the odd punt goes here.
The willow tree (Salix), to the left in the picture,
looks full of life even in winter and is the perfect riverside tree.
