Cambridge 2000: notable buildings
100 Notable Buildings in Cambridge in 2000
A building has to be taken in context, in
particular attention has to be given to its surroundings,
some of the buildings below would not be
included if it were not for this, and others would have been included
instead.
Newer buildings almost inevitably look better than buildings
that are around 20 to 50 years old, which are rarely appreciated,
and just about any building older than 500 years is notable
almost by definition. The list below includes a roughly
proportionate selection from each of the date categories
up to the year 2000.
Many of the newer buildings would inevitably not be included
in future, indeed some will no longer exist in 100 years.
